Only last July, the Alcan American food packaging business was sold for USD 1.2 billion (EUR 843 million). Now, advanced discussions might lead to the sale of the remaining part of the Alcan Packaging business (head office Paris, France) by its owner Rio Tinto, to Amcor of Australia.
This packaging business has known several owners over the years but this could prove to be the great leap forward; at stake are a further USD 2.02 billion (EUR 1.4 billion), definitively helping Rio Tinto in reducing an important debt. In France alone, fifteen factories and the HQ are concerned by the envisaged change of owner.
