Merial

Merial, a world leader in veterinary drugs (and well known in the pet business with its Frontline anti-flea), is a co-enterprise between Sanofi-Aventis and Merck. Its T/O is USD 2.9 billion (EUR 2.01 billion).

For a consideration of USD 4 billion (EUR 2.9 billion), Sanofi-Aventis has agreed to acquire from MerckâEURTs its 50% stake in the co-enterprise. By so doing, Merck might escape potential anti-trust difficulties in the USA (like the sales of assets), following its planned merge with Schering-Plough.
