Pets at Home chairman Luke Mayhew has been appointed chairman of the British Retail Consortium (BRC). Mayhew will succeed former Kingfisher boss Sir Geoff Mulcahy to the post, which he is due to take up on May 1st.
Mayhew is also a non-executive director of stationary retailer WH Smith and Brambles Limited, which owns the pallet pooling business Chep. Previous to this he was chair of fashion retailer Bank Fashion and managing director of John Lewis, a post he held for five years. Mayhew began his career at the Department of Trade and Industry.
