Facing growing difficulties to merge their animal health activities, Sanofi-Aventis and Merck have commonly decided not to proceed further with their merger negotiations. Merial and Intervet/Schering Plough stay independent, cutting hopes of some actors in this industry to snap up the divested businesses this mega merger may have provided.
